Today, everybody at the British Dental Health Foundation is celebrating World Book Day!

As a charity, we are determined to improve the oral health of children not only across the United Kingdom but all over the world. We believe in creating a platform where basic lessons and education can be passed on so that children can be taught the value of good oral hygiene.

Our Educational Resources team provide more than 40 children's books, delivered to schools and health facilities everywhere. Supplying positive oral health messages to young children is something we feel very passionately about. After all, by learning these important habits at an early age means they are more likely to carry them on into adulthood.

Children's oral health in the UK is generally very good but fundamental problems still exist. Children not being taken to the dentist, not being provided with toothbrushes and fluoride toothpaste and having imbalanced diets loaded with sugar. As a result, we have more than one in four five-year-olds showing visible signs of tooth decay.

Learning about basic oral health and hygiene are lessons that cannot afford to be ignored so please take a page out of our book!

We're asking dental professionals, teachers and educators to take up the challenge and deliver oral health education in a bid to increase the oral health and well-being of children aged 3-11.
