As part of National Smile Month 2019, we have joined up with our friends at Buddies to create a competition that champions great oral health.

Share a Smile is all about engaging young people about the importance of a healthy mouth.

It’s the perfect activity for nursery and school children, schools and teachers, parents and guardians.

What it’s all about

A child’s oral health and wellbeing is truly valuable.

Not only can a healthy mouth improve a child’s quality of live, it can also go on to determine their health as an adult.

Share a Smile is about educating young children about oral health and hygiene.  Use our materials and resources to teach children about the importance oral health and hygiene – and how they can achieve a healthy smile.

Once you have done this, challenge them to complete one of these tasks:

• Fill in a colouring sheet (for ages 0 – 4)

• Write a poem (for ages 5+)

• Draw or paint a poster (for ages 12+)

All these activities should have the theme of a healthy smile.

We have lots of prizes to give away for individual winners and classes.

The rules

There are four categories to enter:

Category A: 0-4 years

Decorate the Buddies Toothpaste colouring sheet making it look fabulous and unique.

Category B: 5-11 years

Write a poem or design a poster to represent good oral health for National Smile Month.

Category C: 12-15 years

Write a poem or design a poster to represent good oral health for National Smile Month.

Category D: 16+ years

Write a poem or design a poster to represent good oral health for National Smile Month.

The competition is open to all. No restrictions apply.

Only one entry per person.

Winners and prizes

The winning poems and posters will be published by the Oral Health Foundation.

There will also be prizes awarded to the winner of each category.

Individual winners

Four tickets to a Merlin attraction will be awarded to the individual winner of each category.

Merlin attractions include Alton Towers, LEGOLAND, THORPE PARK and The London Eye… A great day out for family and friends!

Group winners

Every child in the class or community group of each winner will receive an oral health goody bag.

This will be packed with fantastic items including a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Guaranteed to make anybody smile.

How to enter

Submit your colouring sheets, poems and posters by 7 June 2019.

Each entry must clearly display the following details:

• Who the submission belongs to.

• Which category is being entered (including age).

• Contact details of the school or consenting guardian.

Be sure to reference Share a Smile either on the envelope or inside.
