Teeth is a new exhibition held at the Wellcome Collection, charting the history of dentistry and oral health.

It tells the tale of our pursuit for a perfect smile, and with around two weeks to go until the exhibition closes, I went to see what all the fuss is about.

Teeth contains a rich display of over 150 tooth-related objects, ranging from historical artefacts to pieces of art.

It is a remarkable and interesting collection that shows us how far we really have come. From Napoleon’s toothbrush and oil paintings, to a medieval wooden dental chair used by barbers.

Other highlights include wartime dentures, dental training tools and letters to the Tooth Fairy. Teeth is a nostaligic look into the past of how we thought of, and cared for, our mouth.

As you walk through the exhibition the objects step further into the modern day.  Eventually, we are left with a vision of what dental care may look like in the future.

Teeth is free to enter and is on until 16 September 2018. If you are in London and have to time to spare in the Euston area, please go check it out. It’s sure to put a smile on your face.

It’s not the biggest of galleries so you’ll be in-and-out within the hour. For most, you might be able to get around it in less than 45 minutes.
