On 15 September, volunteers from Oral Health Foundation, TePe, Dental Health Spa and others, will be supporting Moveit4smiles by taking on the Striding Edge challenge.

Striding Edge is a mountain ridge in the Lake District. At 7 miles, it may not be the longest walk but with high levels of exposure on narrow rocky ridges, the journey will present many challenges.

We are taking the Helvellyn route, which will take around 6 hours and see us reach summits of more than 3,000 feet.

Our aim

Moveit4smiles is an oral health initiative with a simple aim - to get moving and raise money in the fight against mouth cancer.

We are asking those who are passionate about raising awareness of oral health and wellbeing to get involved and help make a difference to the awareness of a disease which takes more than 2,000 lives in the UK every year.

By supporting Moveit4Smiles you will help us to:

  • Increase awareness of mouth cancer.
  • Increase awareness about the importance of good oral health and hygiene, and the links towards general health.
  • Increase awareness of dental hygienists and therapists and their role within the dental team.

How your donation will help

Last month, after many years of campaigning, Scotland, Wales and England all announced that the HPV vaccination programme will be extended to boys. This is a terrific result and will mean that 400,000 British boys every year will now be protected against mouth cancer and other HPV-related disease. This is a monumental achievement and will ultimately save lives.

Your donations to Moveit4smiles has helped raise thousands of pounds to support and fund campaign groups and passionate individuals to achieve this verdict.

Support for Moveit4smiles has helped raise awareness of mouth cancer by providing key information, advice and education to groups all around the UK. Last year, potentially lifesaving mouth cancer information was seen by more than six million people across waiting rooms, hospitals, shopping centres and workplaces. But, with the number of mouth cancer cases continuing to increase, we need your continued support to raise awareness of this devastating disease.

Please support our vital work and help us by donating.
