In this month’s edition, we lead on the decision of the Throat Cancer Foundation to seek a judicial review of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) ruling to not introduce a HPV vaccination for boys.

As a member of the group HPV Action, everybody here at the Oral Health Foundation is a strong supporter of a gender-neutral vaccination programme and are supporting the Throat Cancer Foundation is their action.

A HPV vaccination for boys is the only ethical and moral choice we have and to without it is unfair, unjust and discriminatory. Information and signposting about how you can support the Throat Cancer Foundation’s appeal, can be found on pages four and five.

Also in this issue we have our Digital PR Officer, George Bushell, give his top oral health advice for university students, there’s a Q&A on the impact which smoking has on our oral health, and we also round-up the activity from this year’s World Oral Health Day.

Finally, we have a back-to-basics ‘do’s and don’ts’ for oral health, reflect on some research about the mouth cancer risk to non-smokers, and have details about a new Clinical Entrepreneurial Programme which is open to the entire dental profession.

I hope you enjoy this month’s edition of Word of Mouth and once again, thank you for all your support.
