Dress up/down day This one works best if your office has a strict dress code and people would love to be more casual for a day. Ask everyone who dresses down to give a small donation, all of which can go straight to your chosen charity. What you need Some clothes which aren't your normal uniform. A collection box or tin. This will allow people who prefer to donate cash to do just that. Steps to organise your day Publicise your event throughout your workplace through posters, flyers, social media and internal email. Set a date and if you want choose a theme - this could be fancy dress, sports kits or anything else that comes to mind. Hold your dress down day, collect donations from everyone who takes part. Finally, collect and send the funds you raise to us so we can continue to bring better oral health to all. Office Olympics List some ‘Olympic activities’ relevant to your workplace and create an obstacle course that involves them all. The fastest colleague or department to complete the course is crowned the winner. The activities could be anything from desk chair racing, to photocopying, to unpacking boxes (N.B Check your health and safety regulations.) This activity is really easy to setup and great fun for all involved. What you need A group of willing participants. A space to hold events, tailor events to fit your environment. Prizes for the winners and losers. A smartphone or camera to take lots of pictures. A social media account (Twitter or Facebook). This will help you get the word out that the event's happening and provide a place for you to share your pictures after it's happened. Steps to hold an office Olympics Decide the extent of your Olympic events, whatever best fits your workplace. Get people involved, print posters, fliers and use social media to create interest. Tell us about your sponsored event though our 'Create a fundraising event' page so we can help maximise your fundraising and achieve your goal. It will work just like any other fundraising website you may have come across in the past. It will contain information about the event you're planning and there is a section that will allow people to donate. Get sponsorship for individual events or ask people to pay a participation fee to help raise fundraise. Hold your office Olympics, have fun and take lots of pictures to share with us and online. Collect and send your fundraising efforts to us so we can continue our important charitable work. Snack challenge If your office has a real sweet tooth, you could try ditching the snacks for a week and donate all the money that you would have spent instead. When it comes to oral health, snacking is incredibly harmful and the major cause of tooth decay, keep those snacks to mealtimes and save your teeth and waistline too. What you need A collection jar or tin to keep the money from the week without snacking. A camera or smartphone and a social media account (Twitter or Facebook). This will allow you to share your progress with us and all your followers on how the week without snacks is going. Steps to organise your challenge Define the rules of your skip the snack challenge, such as how long it will last, if certain people have specific vices put a rule in place to help them beat it. Get a trustworthy person to act as the adjudicator and keep hold of the cash. Print out the rules of the challenge and put them in an obvious and appropriate place such as the office kitchen.
